Sandoz is part of Novartis, one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world. Known mostly for their pioneering generics and biosimilars, Sandoz is now also focused on becoming a leader in complimentary, digital healthcare.
Studies have shown that roughly fifty percent of patients do not take their medications as prescribed. This is a major problem for both patients and the healthcare system at large.
After being prescribed a medication, a patient’s treatment regimen is typically issued in paper format, meaning they must either memorize it or set manual reminders. Forgetting doses is all too common.
We addressed the problem by adding QR codes to pharmacy receipts nationwide. Each QR code contains all relevant therapy information. Once scanned, the data is fed into the app, which then adapts to the regimen. The patient is automatically reminded every time they need to take a dose.
The app allows patients to set up reminders for when they must measure vital signs like blood pressure, heart rate, and glucose level. Vitals can be logged and easily included in reports for healthcare providers.
These report includes all stats related to a patient’s therapy, and descriptions of how well they are sticking to the treatment schedule. This makes it easier easier for the doctor to assess how treatment is progressing.
Have a doctor’s appointment? Patients can set reminders for their next visit.
Your grandparents might not be tech savvy. Multiple user support makes it simple to set reminders for family members.
Treatment regimens are usually sent from the doctor to the pharmacy in digital format. We looked into how this is implemented, and in cooperation with partners, created an innovative data input solution for healthcare providers.
Using the patient’s ID card, pharmacists can easily track down the prescription. What was left for us to do is to electronically pass therapy information further to the patient. This kind of end-to-end integration makes doctors’, pharmacists’ and most importantly, patients’ lives easier.
Personal health is a very private matter. We took this into consideration while building the solution. All data is completely anonymized, meaning we do not store personal information like names or emails and cannot match them with prescriptions.
